Heat-sink grease. I put some on the old TFI, didn't help. Here's a link on the relocation ...http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...remote_tfi.htm

Oh I know it's possible, I'm just saying it's unnecessary when everything else works properly. Distributor shaft bearings could be a little cooked and creating heat throughout the whole dizzy. Lots of reasons for a continual TFI failure. Oh and that grease is supposed to be applied to new modules as well.

I'm open to all suggestions mattdel. I know you're one of the best on foxbodys and I appreciate the help.

Have you verified that you're actually dropping spark when it won't start?

I wonder if you have a coil problem as apposed to the TFI.
When the coil is cold it has less resistance , but as it becomes heat soaked it builds resistance . Once they start going bad that extra resistance from heat causes it to fail.

I've replaced the coil.

I pulled the old TFI off and used a meter to check all connections, A,B and C to each other and 1 thru 6. I found on some website the readings it should be. It checked out good in a cold state. I warmed the car up and removed the TFI and checked it again. A,B and C going to pin#5(sparkout) was in an open state. I put it in the frig for 10 min., put it back on and it started. The car also smells like unburnt gas when it doesn't crank.

Well, if you can't find a reason for excess heat in the area, and your fan clutch is good, I guess do the relocate... Maybe you're just getting ****ty TFI's, it's been known to happen.

Fixed it. I was doing a google search and some guy said he was having the same problem as I, with it not restarting at operating temperature. He said he found out that his TPS had 4.9 volts after the motor warmed up, .9 cold. He grounded the black wire on the TPS to the intake and it solved it. Well what do you know, that fixed my problem also. I was leary of doing it but i've been struggling with this for so long, did it and it worked. Now, someone explain to me why the black wire was becoming ungrounded after it warmed up?
