Default Speed shift vs. powershift

I was reading my mustang mag and it said speed shifting vs. powershifting is worth 2 tenths in the 1/4mile. What is the difference in the two? I think everyone has there own style of shifting.... but two tenths......somebody please explain this to me.

They are the same thing although there are people who insist that speed shifting is shifting without using the clutch. I am sure the magazine mad a typo in this case. Power shifting is shifting without ever lifting off gas.

Well... shifting without letting out of the gas sounds pretty rough on the trans, and clutch.

Well it can be if you don't do it right or you have weak/stock parts. I do it everytime I go to the track, but have a good clutch and am a good driver (not trying be arrogant here, I've just been doing this along time).

No I mean full out WOT, rev matching is not going to hurt anything unless you try and force things.

I am going back to the strip on saturday and I just put in a new ceterforce clutch and msd ignition. I am really pushin for a 11 second run. Maybe stayin in the throttle through my shifts will help.

Short throw helps, shift fast and power shifts aren't a prob.
