Default Starter problems.. 😡

Ok I have gone through two starters within two days I put one in and it works for like a few cranks then after it runs for about 10 minutes or so and I shut it off to turn it back on the starter won't turn the motor over it just grinds on the flywheel. I've replaced the cylinoid and the positive and negative battery cables the only one I haven't changed is the wire to the starter. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

This doesn’t sound like a starter problem. It sounds like either an installation problem or an electrical problem. Make sure that you installed the starter correctly. If it is loose, or not aligned properly it will not work as you expect. You may need to add/remove some shims to make the starter line up properly. Barring that, check the battery. Make sure that it has between 12.4 & 12.8 volts with the car off. If its below that recharge the battery and try again. If its voltage drops below 10 volts while cranking then it is weak and should be replaced (double check by having a local auto parts store do a load test on it).

Good luck...

Thank you so much. But how would I go about shiming it? What do I use and how do I know if its aligned properly?

Check your flywheel for broken teeth . This sounds like your flywheel may have some damage to it. I had similar issues with a ford ranger and it turned out to be the flywheel.

My flywheel is ok. I've checked all of the teeth and they look to be ok. There are no broken ones.

I fixed it! Thank you! I went and bought a shim for it at advance auto and works perfectly! Thank you guys! But I have another question? Do you think my mustang could beat a srt4 caliber? He has a few bolt ons and I have a b303 cam gt40 heads and intake equal length headers.
