Default Ignition Key

Hey there all hope everyone's doing good! Have a bit of a problem here. I recently had my other car broken into and the ignition key to my mustang was stolen. My question is does anyone know the key code or how I could find it??? The car is a 1987 GT Convertible 5 speed. Thanks in advance!

I lost a key once and took the title to a dealer . They used the vin number and some other info off the title to look up a code in a book and used a machine to cut a new key for me. It cost me about 12 bucks. Mind you this was for a 94 dodge intrepid , but I imagine a ford dealer could do the same for you.

It was "broken" into with key in ignition, on seat, extra key under floor mat? Sounds like "some body" lost the key. Why wouldn't thief just take the car? Why would u want same key again so thief can take car any time they want.
Some thing fishy here. just sayin.................

@ Dawson: yeah I tried one local ford dealer but they only go back 10 years.

@frosty: well I have the mustang parked at my parents since I'm not driving it. So I keep the key to it in my daily driver (miata) so I can start the mustang up when I go out there.

Well I hate to tell you that the only way to do it with out the origanal key or a spare is to replace the ignition cylinder . With out the key you will have to drill the hell out of it to get it out because there is a pin that you need to depress to replace it and with out the key you cant turn it to acess the pin . Youll have to use progressivaly bigger drill bits to drill past all the tumblers. Its a pain in the butt to say the least.

Maybe i can help!
I just bought an 86 with no keys from the impound..... i went to A/z and bought a new cylinder that came with 2 new keys! By the way this was my 2nd time doing this! Start drilling with small bits in the middle of key entry.., get bigger and bigger! Keep in mind.. DO NOT drill on the actual housing that holds the cyclinder. As you drill, drill, and more drill you will see some pieces coming out.., pull out the rest of it because after doing this it will be in pieces!! Once i got the cyclinder out, the cross at the end of the cyclinder broke inside the collumn.., all i had to do was take out the c clip and the gear came out with the cross and was able to slide the gear back in and clip it!

The install is only about 2 seconds...LOL funny.., really is tho!
All took me 20min but if i was to do for a 3rd time i would do it under 10!
I dont want to hate and say it was easy.., but i can say it was NOT hard!! Drilliing takes time..!
Just do it and thanks us later......locksmith can help but he is ganna charge!! All i needed was a drill, bits and a $18 part from A/Z! You pick!

so basically you want a set of keys for your ignition that some thief has and could come back at anytime?? why dont you order a keyed set for the trunk, doors and trunk(maybe you can find a SSP set and have 1 key for all)
