88 5.0 High Output head questions
I have recently purchased a 1988 5.0L HO motor and am in the process of refreshing the motor to pretty much stock specs.
Anyone know
valve sizes I would need for stock applications?
spring weight/size for stock
I have tried looking up stock specs, but to no avail.
any and all info would be appreciated... (probably going to carb the motor instead of EFI, unless I find a nice donor LX body that had the 5.0 EFI HO motor)
Thanks

I don't know the spec you're looking for, but most folks will tell you that you are wasting money doing ANYTHING to E7 heads.
I realize that's not what you asked, but I'm throwing it out there anyhow. GT-40Ps would be a much better investment.

Ok, Those heads should measure out to 62cc in the chamber as a minimum.
Intake valve is 1.782"
Exhaust is 1.46"
Spring on intake calls for 74-82# with closed valve at 1.78" tall.
211-230#open at 1.33"
Spring on exhaust is 77-85# at 1.60 tall when closed.
Spring when open should be 200-226# when open at 1.15" tall
I'm thinking those are the specs you couldn't find.....

I'm sure they would be however, I'm just refreshing the head because it had a hundred twenty thousand miles on it and I figured the valve springs probably need replacing on it along with that I've also misplaced the valves and didn't keep track of which port they were in so I figure I'm going to go ahead and get new valves for that particular head is well unless I can relap the old valves which I'm not crazy about

I'm gonna beat the dead horse one more time... Especially if you're considering a 3 angle job, and no doubt squaring the heads up, why not spend another $100 and get some GT40Ps instead?
If you REALLY don't want to do that, I'll go away and keep my mouth shut.

let's start a crowd chant...
"Jon!"
"Needs!"
"GT-40"
"Ps!"
Seriously... I'll STFU if you want, but man are you missing the boat to awesome-town over $100....
