Default tranny conversion ruin value?

i have a 89 mustang notchback with 39k original miles. car is pretty immaculate which is the reason i bought it. the one bummer is the car is an automatic. i have always thought about doing the aod to t5 swap but i am worried about the value nose diving as well as the desirability. i feel like half the people want them original no matter what and the other wouldn't care if it was only a tranny swap. so my question is am i going to totally ruin resale value if i mess with it?

thanks,
adam

As long as you don't cobble the swap up and save the original parts, I'd say your fine.

Yep, that's the thing people mess up with, they don't keep the old parts.

i think i am going to go for it. i really wanted a five speed and so doesn't just about every other fox body driver. i will definately keep the old stuff just incase someone wants to put it back to stock, but i don't think they would.

You won't need to cut anything, just swap the parts, and it can be reversed when you want.

Go for it, its your car so make it what you want. As stated above, keep all parts just in case you get a stickler for next owner. Your gonna love the 5-speed, I swapped mine last year and was very very very happy. Straight forward swap , just take your time with the pedal assembly.

If it were my car and I wanted the 5 speed. I would change it. Your other option is to get another car with a 5 speed. personally. For what these cars are worth. Changing it would be no problems for me. You ca buy these cars all day long cheap and there are a million of them out there. just my 02

I really don't think there is a shortage of FOX body Mustangs yet.
I'd have no problem making this conversion.........
