lX anyday of the week and twice on sunday..... not really a fan of all the ground effects on them. i like the drag look of the lx plus like other people said the gt's are more common you see everyday... the lx is more unique. just my 2 cents

most of my preference lies on the color of the car. exotic colors dont match well on the fox body... like yellow or orange. if I had an LX, which I do, it would be a solid color. pref. dark- green, blue, black, or maroon- like mine. on a gt, i like the 2 tone setup, but i dont agree with the colors most of the time. i think on a gt, black body with a light grey side panals is freakin sexy. to end it, my first stang was a fox gt with a solid red with grey, marbalized stripes down the hood and hatch- T-Top car!!, very unique and expensive! on my LX i have now, its the stock maroon with a stock hood but painted black on the cowl part, with chrome ponies. 
I love my setup. well, ok- i choose both. make ur car different than other 5.0's, but nice lookin at the same time... thats my input.

when i bought my '90 gt new it was cool...in 1990
w/in 5 years i was tired of the fake brake coolers and stuff, the cobra ground effects were cleaner but still kinda cheap looking, i switched to a notch then, and have 3 notches and a lx 'vert
even my 'vert i had i preferred not to have the all the aero gear on it so i went lx, doesn't look right anymore, not old enuff to be classic, not new looking enuff to still like it.

The GT definately looks alot better. I would'nt have considered buying a fox body mustang if it was'nt for the GT. In my opinion the difference between the GT and the LX is like night and day. The GT has a newer, meaner sporty muscle car look while the LX just looks old, plain and cheap. Also, the taillights on the GT look much cooler than the LX taillights.
By the way, when I was looking for a Mustang it was almost impossible to find a GT for sale. Most of the fox body mustangs that were for sale were LX's. If there ever was a GT for sale it would usually be almost twice the price of an LX. It seems mustang owners like keeping their GT's. Most of the Fox body mustangs that I see in my area are LX's not GT's. GT's are much more rare where I live.
