With the engine in the car, all accesories installed, how can you tell the difference between the 302 and 351 Windsor Block ?

Just by looking at it or finding stamping #'s [ where to find ?]

This is what I think , please correct if wrong. 351W has taller deck. About 1.3 inches.
On the 302 the water pump bolt at about the 3 o'clock position, bolts in just beneath the block to head surface.
On the 351W this same water pump bolt, ought to go in about 1.3 inches beneath that same block to head mating surface ?? [BEcause of higher deck]??

What else can I use as an indicator ?

Are the block #'s stamped somewhere by the starter ?

What i go by is intake bolts. the 351 has 4 more intake bolts then a 302, one more all the way around each corner.

The intake will be wider also.
