Default advice needed

hey guys i don't have very much experience with carbs and need your expertise. i am a journeymen heavy duty mechanic and when it comes to diesel engines thats my playing field. carb setups well lets just say iam learning.

anyway back to my question. i am in the process of converting my 4banger to a v8 and going the carb route. i am just wondering if you would need to run a return line back to tank. i have a edelbrock fuel pump p/n 1791 it is set to 6.5 psi and i am running 3/8 fuel lines to a holley regulator before my proform 650 carb. do i need to run a return line or just have it deadheaded??

this is something that i don't know and need some advise from a pro
