I recently purchased an 86 GT. I want to add a maf asthe car is without one now. I was thinking of getting a wording hat ess from a newer fox (89-93) ans swapping. My question is, will I need to do anything to the computer so that everything works right if I do the swap??

Yes you will need a MAF computer. The 86 computer will not work.

What are your goals with this car? People go with Maf because it is more accepting of mods without tuning or just basic tuning. You're not going to gain anything doing a Maf conversion just for the hell of it.

Not going to do major power adding anytime soon. I have a few bolt ons but nothing big. I thought it would add a better air fuel combo, and be more efficient. Thanks for the advice, I am going to scrap the idea and just sale the maf sensor I have to get some other parts now.

Swapping to mass air helps when it comes time to swap the cam mainly. Covert it over. You will need a a9l or a9p ecu...depending on the trans. The main harness can stay but some extra wiring and a repin will need to be done on a couple others. Ford racing used to sell an adapter but I haven't seen one for sale in awhile. There are mass air kits out there that have the directions and needed parts at a decent price. Then you will need to also remove the vac line from the MAP/BAP sensor...mass air setup does not use vacuum on this sensor.

Thank You projectresto83. LateModel Resto has a kit. I will do this if I change the cams. Until then it will stay as is. I am not looking to do that big of an upgrade for a while. I need to get my interior together first.
