Default Breaks won't lock up!!

So the other day i had a car pull out infront of me and I had to slam on the breaks and i was on them hard. To my surprise the breaks did not lock up and it felt like i was not slowing down very fast. Now i know I have about about half or a little less pad life on the front and my rotore are warped and need replaced. What else can cause poor breaks.

If the brakes feel mooshy you have air in the lines, did you feel the pedal vibrate and hear the anti lock unit take over?

If you have old pads on and warped rotors , you will have brake fade if you hit the brakes hard. Poor components under a very hard stop will cause heat to build up very quickly.

I suggest new rotors with some ceramic pads and have the system bled.

Warped rotors will greatly diminish your braking performance. The pads are mostly in contact with the rotors at the high spot in the rotor. Air in the brake fluid can also effect braking performance too since air will compress. I’d have the rotors turned or replaced and flush the brake fluid. Good luck...

Old brake lines can expand under pressure and keep you from getting full pressure to the caliper. Also locking up the breaks would have most likely caused you to slide further than you did. That's what ABS prevents.

You do not want your brakes to lock up in an emergency. You lose all control over steering and stopping at that point.
