Default 5.0 battery cable problem

hey everyone, ran into a problem with my mustang i got a new battery but i got a reversed 58R-3, so i kind of stretched the pos cable to fit it and replace the cable heads, everyone was fine untl one day it just didnt start and no power at all. i re tightened the cables and it started right up, then 2 days ago it happen again re tightened them again but this time im not gett any power at all. could it be that i ripped/stretched the cable so far that it ripped somewhere? idk what i should do i was going to cut them and splice and make them longer. but im lost now and its frustrating. any ideas?

I wouldn't cut/splice battery cables, that's asking for trouble. What about returning that battery for the correct one?

Go buy new cables the right length and go from there.
