Default smog pump delete

Hey guys new to the fourm so bare with me here. I have an 85 gt and my smog pump recently packed it in. I was curious if I could run a shorter belt with no issues or would I have to get a delete kit. My car has no a/c already, and if it is possible how long of a belt would I need. Thanks

Yes you can run a smaller belt and skip the pump, did this on my 94 5.0 and skipped AC and smog. I've got a routing diagram saved on my computer (I'm on my phone) it might take me a few days to dig it up but I'm sure someone on here can post one quicker.

What I did though was drive to auto parts store, told them what I was doing, they let me take about 4 belts to my car to try and buy the one that worked. Make sure you get the smallest that you can slip on that way when it stretches the tensioner will still pick up the slack.

It doesn't list bypassing AC and not the PS but I think its the same length as bypassing the PS and not AC, unless you moved your PS up to the AC location.
I think the the 85 has a slightly larger PS pulley so the belt may need to be slightly longer but this gets you in the ballpark.
