16 here, I have a 1989 lx stang with a 306 all forged. mac headers, mac off road h pipe, race bullets, ported n polished e7's. summit racing cold air intake, ford racing 3.73s waiting to be installed. Havent had a chance to dyno or get to the track but previous owner said about 247 rwhp and whatever tha works out to be at the engine. He also said it ran 13.2 at best and I dunno how many mph but most of the **** hes told me so far Ive found to be bull**** haha.

i had about 170k miles on my motor with headers and just a K&N before i decided to get it stroked, but the motor ran and was still strong.

But the sooner the motor goes, the sooner you can put in a a badass motor, I m thinking about a 306 in my stock LX soon.

The car will be fine ..... I'd say he's just jealous that you'll have a faster car then him. You only live once and you regret not having fun now. Soon its kids and a house and everything else. Go for it he will get over it and probably like the mods in the end.

eveyone you have to rember just coes it has 117k on it does not mean it was an easy 117k it could of been beat to death, does your car burn oil or anything? the only thing i could think of it's that you dad dose not want it to be any faster then it alredy is, he dose not want you gettin hurt or in trouble with it, tell you dad at least im spending money in my car and not out doing drugs, i just thinkin you dont. that gets them everytime.

You only live once and you regret not having fun now. Soon its kids and a house and everything else.

Which is the perfect time for a nearly 30 year old to start building his mid-life crisis toy.
Of course I had fun at 17 too with a nearly identical car.

Guess my kid will be a lucky one. She is 6 and has already requested that daddy start building her a rock crawling rig and a hot rod. She keeps bringing me pics of old 30's street rods, and she has made it clear that she wants a short bed Ford Ranger.[:-] Sad part is that she will likely get one or the other when she turns 16. The question is which is safer for a teenager a locked and lifted 4x4, or 12-14 second street car.[:-]

ORIGINAL: BenCOhen91

im the young owner of a 91 5.0 who sked for suggestions on intake and headers. i got good responses and thnks you but now i have another issue. my 5.0 has about 117k miles on it and my dad sayw if i but BBK intake,BBK headers and exaust on it than i will probably blow my engine. i have no engine upgrade on it so nothing has been tweeked. is there a problem with my idea or will i actually kill my engine, and if i will, what else will i need to install? thanks
Your dad is either thinking of the wrong parts (like thinking you want to put on a S/C or Turbo) or he knows nothing about cars (no offence). Ask him why he thinks that. Seriously. I don't think he's thinking of the right parts or he's thinking if they're improperly installed it could happen (that I can see).

Your engine will be fine. That's like saying chaging the shoelaces on your shoes will make them fall apart.

Yeah, good point my 84 smokes like crazy and has only about 30% of it's origional compression on cyl 3. BTW that causes it to miss too. 117000 on the dot here and i'm lookin at a rebuild. Luckily the guy I bought it from is a dummy and bought it an airgap, holley street avenger, and bbk shorties before selling it to me for 880 bones. Oh and did I mention the interior is mint and it has new tires?

It's only goiing to help your engine. If you go for it, just take it easy on the streets.
