Tranny problem

Hi I just bought an 89 auto and the tranny is broken i think. When i put it into any of the gears it doesnt do anything. it will bog down a little as if it were going into gear but it doesnt. I thought it might be the front pump or the torque converter. Any advise you guys might have before i take it out of the car. I really appreciate it.

wait til a nice day, pull it out and spend the $1800 for the rebuild.....or be smart and swap it out for a 5-speed

it's toast, for sure.....

Pump is dead, or the valve body is screwed. Cost of fixing depends on how much you do yourself. Paying someone to do it will be pricey, as all trans jobs are. If you install it yourself then it shouldn't cost $1800 for a moderatly built AOD. My built 4R70W AOD cost $1100 shipped with a new converter. And if all you want is a stock AOD with a shift kit could be even less.
