MSD distributor Vs 6A Ignition box
#11
That's certainly good to know. The idle is pretty stable now (especially for a 21 year old car with 180,000 miles on it), but I'm still going to accept it. More spark even for a stock set up is never a bad idea.

true, it won't hurt, but it won't help anything either, I ran a full h/c/i on my 89 and stock ignition, worked flawlessly, only did I put the crane hi-6 on/hook it back up was when s/c went on.......previous owner had wired one in and left it on car unhooked, so when the time came and was needed I hooked it back up

I hate fixing wiring from the previous owner. I've found a couple of hack wiring jobs on my car that made me start keeping a fire extinguisher under neath the passenger seat. lol It's all good. Thank you again for all of your input guys. Seriously. I'm going to let my buddy just get the box just so he can stop worrying about what to get me for Christmas. lol I'm not worried about the ignition either way right now, but hey why the hell not right? Especially when it's free. I'm not one to complain. Now I feel bad because he is getting me that when I only got him a couple of Wilson Combat 1911 mags... now I'm going to have to throw something else just to be even....maybe I'll get him a lifetime fill of nitrogen for his 1G DSM tires or something.

At some point, the multiple spark ignition boxes will provide you a smoother idle, they did for me. Plugs also lasted longer between changes, maybe because of the smoother idle. I never noticed a measurable difference in gas mileage.

I didn't have one on my 89 with a full h/c/i and it ran great......6a does not have rev limiter, 6al does.
