Default idle issue and stalling

My buddy just bought a 91 lx notch he was told that it has gt40 manifold and heads I'm not sure it the heads are"p's" or not a b303 cam, eagle rotating assembly, bbk maf and bbk 65mm tb. When the car gets to operating temperature it starts to surge and eventually stalls I can't figure out what it might be I'm thinking maybe it needs a tune

Where does it like to idle when its cold rpm wise? Sounds like a simple clean IAC, MAF and run KOEO/KOER diagnostics and see if it has any codes stored.

Possibly even as simple as performing a base idle reset, check timing.

I think it idles at 900 or 1100. Could the aftermarket maf cause this it says that it's for 19lb injectors and it has matching injectors what should it be timed at with the work done

Well you obviously need to make sure you have a matching MAF and injector calibration, but I don't think that's your problem. Do everything Dawson said first. Even if there is nothing wrong with the car, if you just purchased it all that stuff should be done anyways. Do all of the basic stuff first and add a TPS voltage check while you're at it. Then if it is still acting up, we can go from there and scratch a few things off the list before you make it rain.

Also check to make sure it has no vacuum leaks. A simple homemade smoke machine can help you find the leaks and once they are fixed it does wonders to driveavility and idle.
