Default 8.8 in a 83 vert control arm problem

Hello all,

Got a pretty annoying situation. I just recently swapped all my control arms from factory to a summit racing controls arm set for a 79-95 mustang. My 83 gt originally had a 7.5 rear end and I upgraded to a 8.8 rear end. I noticed that the control arms do not properly line up. Quite a **** considering it took for ever to swap these out. I get the impression I need to buy adjustable control arms and set them to a specific length because of the swap but does anyone know the lengths required for the upper control arms for this. Also do I need to buy adjustable lower control arms to adjust?

they will fit, I've done this swap many times and to an 84 most recently.........I did it on a lift and had to use a screw jack to raise rear up until stuff lined up....but be aware that it will take some prying and jacking and I used crows feet alignment bars to pull holes to lined up position......it will take effort, so don't expect it all to just drop right in, but it WILL all work.

Well I have already installed the new arms. It just looks like the upper control arms arnt properly line up. It might be because I am looking at it with the rear end hanging down instead of in its normal position?

you will never get them to line up very well with the rear hanging down, like I said, I use a screw jack to push the rear up and alignment bars in the holes to get the bolt started...........it's the best way to do it......with the rear hanging down, you will fight it......I jack it up just enough so I can still access the holes while at the same time it gives it a tad better angle for alignment
