Possible Spark Plug Wire Problem

Possible Spark Plug Wire Problem
So today I was going to check my spark plugs and when I was looking at the wires one looked like it was somewhat backed off of the plug connector. So I pulled it off and noticed the contact inside the wire is deformed so it doesn't fit around the plug. I will obviously just replace this since its such an inexpensive fix but I'm curious if you guys think this could be making a cylinder fire somewhat poorly? I also noticed that there was a very slow spray coming out of the exhaust that appears to be unburnt gasoline and when I started the engine up with the deformed wire disconnected I could see no discernible difference in idle speed. Just out of curiosity do you think I've been leaving some power on the table with this issue?

Ok so quick update after reconnecting the wire (which is the only thing I touched) the engine is now under acceleration "misfiring". I'm not even sure that is the correct word as there really isn't a noise its more just you can feel almost a stutter while accelerating. Any idea what it could be?
