Default 84 mustang rearend brake fittings

Going to be dropping the rear end today in my 84 gt, i have another 7.5 ready to go in except for the fact that the junkyard I picked it up at cut the soft brake line that goes to the body from the rearend, whats the best way to go about plumbing the rear brakes now? From what I can tell The valve thing that the soft brake line went into is non removable and the line attaches to it permanently via a crimp connection? What a great design...i was thinking I can get a soft brake line with both ends threaded and some generic 3 port valve and plumb it up that way.

Any suggestions?

On my '95, there is a junction at the rear of the soft hose, located on top of the diff, and the hard lines connect to it. These two hard lines run along the axle tubes toward the wheels. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the older Foxes.

The picture of your replacement axle shows a setup that's different from mine, where your junction appears to be mounted (to the breather vent?) on the R axle tube. How are things set up on your existing axle? The picture you posted doesn't show the junction, and judging by the rust, I don't think those are the original lines anyway...

Yeah on the replacement axle it is connected to the breather, I assumed it would be the same on my current axle but havent checked the setup yet, not at home right now so I cant verify but im hoping it was replaced with a removable junction to make things easier.

The breather should have a loose-fitting cap which is crimped to keep from falling off. Below this cap should be the hex portion for your wrench. Sometimes the breather will puke oil out, which collects dirt and obscures the lower portion of the vent with a thick paste.

Judging by the way they are bent, the new-looking brake lines on your existing axle may not be routed as stock. Your replacement axle might be your best guide for determining how things are supposed to look.

Yeah this is how the replacement is setup, here js a picture that I found online that kinda describes my dilemma

I have a similar block but its permanently attached to the axle tube and the soft line is cut, so ill probably have to find a similar block thats in the picture to use instead.

I don't think those blocks were ever permanently welded to the axle tube. Again, I'm not intimately familiar with these older Mustangs, but all the pictures I see of replacement hoses online show the block to be an integral part of the hose. Some of them include a bracket as part of the hose/block assembly, as seen in the above picture.

When you get a chance, I'd like to see better pictures of both axles, showing what exactly you have going on...

Will do, i didnt investigate too much, I cleaned around it a bit and it seemed like there was mo joint so i assumed it was part of the tube, ill double check again and post pics

So i opened up the rear end and everything looks okay.... It did seem to have very little oil in though. All the gears look to be in good shape. Did i misdiagnose this??? Theres a bunch of oil near where the pinion connects to the driveshaft so its obviously been leaking out.

Pinion seals do wear out with age; I'm not surprised.

As for diagnosis... Last I read, it sounded like it had locked up altogether and forced the engine to shut off on you. Did it "unlock"?

Yeah, the problem was intermittent, would lack of friction modifier+low fluid cause it to lock up when it heats up? It would happen after a minute or two of driving, if I restarted i could get another couple blocks or so. The bearings look new, they are from timken.

It cant be the transmission right? It was shifting fine, and was when i tried driving after it happened.
