Default American Thunder or Force II?

My car was running really bad when accelerating and it sounded like I had a fouled spark plug. Well I changed the wires and plugs and it was still there. I then guessed it was an exhaust leak. I brought my car into the garage yesterday jacked it up and started it. I started to feel around the flanges to see if I felt anything.

Where the H-pipe meets the mufflers I felt "poofs" of air. I then moved my hand around to find the problem and found that the intake pipe into my right muffler had rusted completely off. Looked like someone took a hacksaw and started cutting.

So my question is what flowmasters should I get? I don't want anything TOO loud but yet I want to be heard. How loud are Force IIs compared to American Thunder?

I have a stock engine.

the american thunder is the loudest they make i think, so if you dont want it too loud i would go with the 40 series, if u want alittle more rumbel go with the super 40. ive never heard the force II's on a car so im not shure how they sound
heres the flowmaster website http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/mufflers.html

MY friend has a 92 5.0 with a BBK catted X pipe and a flowmaster force 2 cat back and it isn't too loud. It has the flowmaster sound to it, personally I dont think it is loud enough but it sounds good

If you have ANY plans to build a sleeper youll use a force 2. I have one on my 94 cobra and let me tell you it sounds fairly stock, not 100% but fairly, until you step on it. Then the flowmaster sound comes in REAL nice, not as loud as a 40s but you know what it is. I love them personally, i can sound stock when crusing around town and nto attract attention from cops. I think the BEST part about it is when you pull up to someone who just doesnt know what there up against. I always rev a little bit and wait for them...then i stomp on it..The looks of there faces makes up for the not so loud exhaust

i have a 95 sleeper, and i have the american thunder mufflers, they are great at cruising as the forceII but a much deeper sound, the inside noise is not bad at all. i have almost everything you can do to an engine done and it still sounds great. cops don't bother me at all and i have all my cats off.

the force 2 has that flowmaster sound but the american thunder is louder so if you dont want it too loud then go with force 2. they have more baffles in the muffler to just quiet the interior sound down

When I had cats the american thunders were quiet even at WOT. Unless you get some high flowing cats and or remove them american thunders won't be loud at all.

I have 40 series and I love them but it can be a bit droney at times inside but I dont car the sound pays off im my opinion. I have heard great things about the force II system, no doubt sounds good, is mild and loud when you want it, IE when you step on it. Either choice you’re going to be satisfied with the sound.

Bought American Thunder today. I went to flowmaster and listened to the two different mufflers and the 40 series just blows the others away with being aggresive. I like the aggressive noise I just didn't want the loud drone. But then again I have a vert and I get wind noise with the top up like a mother.

Besides I usually shift below 1500-2000RPM (I know granny driving) and just to have a rumble during accel will be cool.

Will tell you how they sound.
