Default Gas coming out of overflow tube, tank not full

I smelled gas, so I looked at the back of the car. Gas was coming out of the overflow tube rapidly. The tank is not full. My brains kicked in and I opened the gas cap to relieve pressure. It stopped leaking....why is this happening all of a sudden? It's never happened and the only recent thing I've done back there is replace the neck and grommet because of leakage. Has this ever happened to you? Why is pressure building up in the tank to cause overflow? I swear I can never catch a break with my fox.

lol, sorry to hear she's giving you trouble again. Seems some Fox's are just a bit more troublesome than others. A good beat run is in order to straighten her out.

Seriously though, there's gotta be something wrong with the venting. That's the only thing that would cause this. Unless your absolutely sure the tank wasn't full......

Good luck and post back with what you find.

your fuel system doesnt have an "overflow tube", with the cap on, and assuming that there arent any leaks in the system, the only open to atmosphere point is the canister vent. if the vent is plugged the tank will build pressure, and can push fuel out, but only if you have a leak point somewhere submerged with fuel.

Are you sure it's the over flow tube and not the rubber seal between the fill tube and the gas tank?

It's not doing it anymore, and no it's not the rubber grommet in between the tank and filler neck. I will say that when I filled the tank gas went all the way up the tube and a little poured out. I'll fill up again and update the post. Is that actually considered an overflow tube or just more of a vent?
