Default Motorcraft ignition cylinder replacement

I need to replace the ignition cylinder on my 1995 Mustang GT. I found some Motorcraft ones that are available on Amazon the only problem I'm having is I do not know what number and cut letter to get (example number 3 cut letter c) I would like to make sure I can get one that I can make work with the same key as the doors/trunk. Another dilemma I have is I am also having problems with the door locks. Electric lock buttons and just pushing the tabs down or pulling up work fine. The keys just don't seem to unlock/lock the doors. I haven't been able to take the doors apart yet to see what's going on with the locks but I figure worst case the door locks might need changed along with the trunk for all doors and trunk to match. So two questions, one is there any way for me to tell the number and cut letter on my current keys? Does that really matter since I might end up having to change door and trunk locks? I know the Motorcraft cylinders only come with the upper portion (ignition cuts) in them. Does this mean that whatever cylinder I order when I get the door locks straightened out I'll just be able to have door cuts put in the new Motorcraft cylinder keys to match doors?

Sounds like this may be your best bet.

Thanks for they reply. I will probably go this route. One question would I be able to get the lock redone on the trunk so it matches the keys that I get with the new ignition and door locks?

That's a good point, you'd think they'd offer a complete set to redo all locks and ignition. And don't forget about the glove box.

I think your just going to have one extra key for the trunk on your key chain.
