Default Power Steering Pump Removal

The Hayes manual just says remove bolts and pull up. There is one long bolt with a nut on it that stays across. It seems that I have to take off the whole metal frame. Somebody know how?? 89 5.0 ps I looked everywhere here

You need to get a power steering pulley removal tool so that you can acess the bolts that remove the pump. There is no need to pull off the entire bracket that holds it on.

Im new at 5.0 . I took off the big metal bracket, now im of to the parts store to get the puller. Pump came out, going to put a rebuild kit on. I watched a U-Tube video on how to. Right now the shaft leaks real bad. Ball joints and tie rods for my Memorial day weekend. Very worried about being able to drive the car to the alignment shop with wheels sort of strait.

If you didnt measure the tie rod ends and screw them back on in the exact position the old ones were set at, then I suggest you flat bed it to the alignment shop. Ive seen alignments so far out that the tires were junk after about 20 miles.

Measure the threads with a marker or count? or possibly take it off as one complete unit and then measure. End to end is the U-Tube way? I have done this twice before with good results.

I put on new tie rods, inner and outer. Front wheels seem very strait. Rebuilt the steering pump, and now I am figuring out hoe to put the pulley on. Any easy ideas. Just for the record. The rebuild kit is $8 dollars. Contains all seals and bearing. Went on easy with the help of a U-Tube video.

Usually the power steering pully removal kit comes with the installer tool as well. Depending on what you used to remove it. You may have to go back to autozone and get the installer tool

For $18 I got a pulley kit at Harbor Freight. Everything seems solid. Starting it up tomorrow and see how the wheels go.
