Default Clutch cable rubbing/binding

Had to pull the trans out of my '90 5.0 maybe a month ago and the clutch cable slipped off of the pedal. No biggie, but after I got the car back on the road the clutch feels like it just has a lot of tension on the cable, like its rubbing against something and or getting hung up or binding. I'ts fine for about 10 minutes of driving and then it starts to get hung up and sort of make a popping sound during the release. Cable about to snap? or is it likely something worse any ideas are helpful, Thanks!

Hard to say without seeing it in person but Id go back over the cable routing including the quadrant. Also if you used a stock replacement cable be prepared for it to break. Only cables worth are crap are the ones made by the OEM. You can run a cable off a newer car too, it just wont have the mounting bracket on it. The cable should be smooth without any binding or popping. Pull the quadrant out and look at it. I had a UPR one in my car once and the cable had rubbed a grove into it. I have since switched everything over to a Maximum Motorsports setup with their OEM cable and the clutch feels great. Its not spongy like a hydro clutch but not stiff as heck where a body builder would be needed to push pedal.
