Engine doesnt turn over???
Well seeing that this car would turn over fine a few weeks ago, Im sure the clutch switch is engaging, but It might be blown that or the ignition switch (and yes I tested for voltage when in crank position)...I think what ill do is bypass the clutch safety switch and if that doesnt fix it then ill replace the ignition switch, and after that ill replace the starter and hope for the best
yeah i taped mine didn't always worked right...got old.
you did try to jump it by the silinoid? nothing happened?then find a diff distibutor. i got a 83 5.o motor right here bad timing chain, but it did start up. i'll look at it tomorrow.

first of all it turned over just fine from the beginning. You jumped the small wire now nothing,
You sent power to the ignition switch, that was possibly grounded as the ignition was off and then you have it, its a 5sp, and the clutch was not engaged.
I have an automatic and had the same problem and thought my motor was locked up !
IT TURNED OUT THE GROUND FROM BATTERY CABLE WAS BAD TO STARTER AND EVEN THOUGH IT SHOWED 13VOLTS, I WAS ONLY GETTING 50 CRANKINGS AMPS THROUGH THE WIRE!
TRY GROUNDING THAT WIRE ON THE ALTERNATOR BOLT , AC COMPRESSOR BOLT AND SEE AGAIN.
ALSO THAT WIRE THE LITTLE ONE YOU MESSED WITH, SEE IF IT HAS 12 VOLTS WITH IGNITION ON AND CLUTCH DEPRESSED AND SE IF TEST LIGHT GLOWS WHEN YOU GO TO START

Where exactly is the clutch safety switch located??? and also where exactly is the ignition switch located???
Also If I did blow the ignition switch, would all the dash lights still turn on when I turn the key to on??

Ok I finally got it to turn over...I just made a new wire from the solenoid to the ignition switch, and spliced in the wire that comes from the ignition module. After that I hooked up the battery and it turned over no problems.....BUT now I have to figure out why it wont fire [:@]
Have you checked to see if you have spark at the plugs or fuel to the carb? You simply need Air, Fuel, Spark, Compression, and Timing to run. The trick is to figure out which of these you're currently missing and then figure out why.
The problem is im not getting any spark at the spark plug, and I know its something to do with the electronics...So I went out ot autozone today and picked up a mechanical non-electronic distributor to drop in there...I found out I have a '69 block out of a Torino so I figured it didnt come from the factory with electronic ignition so Ill just switch it back...So in the morning Ill drop it in and it should fire
