timing chain.....
okay i'm sick of this ****, the timing chain must be the problem. I don't know if it's slipping really bad or what, but we just adjusted the timing and day by day the car starts to ping more and more. Anyone ever had a similar problem? If it's not the timing chain, something inside the motor has to be bad. Because the car is way slower than it should be still.

idk wtf it is then, im getting really tired of this car, getting ready to sell it. But its exactly what i said. I just adjusted the timing a couple days ago, and there was no pinging. Now after a couple days its starting to ping more and more. It seems like the pinging gets progressively worse whenever i floor the car.

What are you talking about, if you have a lot of miles on a timing chain it can slip or snap.

RE: timing chain.....
There is a very stong possibility that it is the timing chain. They will loosen up and even jump teeth. The thing is, if it had jumped a tooth you would more then likely know because it could bend valves.
Now something else you might want to consider checking into is the computer. The 1994 and 1995 5.0 computers were bad about finding ways around mods and chips. You could disconnect the battery to reset the computer and within a few days it would find away around whatever you had done to it.

RE: timing chain.....
you chain isnt slipping. a fawking belt slips. a chain stretches. i just swapped a chain with 174k miles on it and it didnt have that much more slack then a new one. this dude beats his car to death. so dont think its you chain, it can be but i doubt that.
for ***** and giggles, pull out dist and check the gear on it to see for excessive wear or any missing teeth. the stock gear can wear
if you lived close i would look at it but you live in cali so that does you no good. if you have pinging maybe something with the EGR system causing issues since you had issues with this before.
go to a dyno and get a base run. this will tell you your A/F ratio and see when the car is leaning out

once again it was something minor, and i feel like a real idiot, and the car runs great now. But anyways I have decided that I am going to sell the car and buy a notchback due to the weight difference. Feel free to message me if anyone is interested, car has many new parts on it. I always think something is serious wrong wiht my car whenever anything goes bad, because before i had a 99 grand am, and whenever anything went bad, it was way serious lol.
