Code Reader Not Working
I just bought a 1995 Ford Mustang 5.0 with 136,000 miles. It ran fine for the first 2 days I had it and then the CEL came on and it started running really rich and bad. I bought an "INNOVA 3145 Ford Digital OBD1 Code Reader" but it won't read the codes, it just shows "000" and doesn't show any indications that it's connecting to the computer. I also tried the DIY method and that didn't work either.
Any suggestions on what to do to get the CEL codes read?
I did replace the ECT Sensor ($37) after reading several threads and it didn't change the CEL or the running rich issue. I also disconnected the battery for about 20 min and nothing changed. I don't want to just replace parts I'd like to be able to troubleshoot and read the codes.
