Your 302 block will need to be machined in order to fit the 347 kit in it. If I were you, I would take the set up along with your flexplate and balancer to the shop and have them balanced all together. I learned the hard way with my 347.

I would balance it. It is easier on the engine. Plus DSS is a great place and they do wonderful work. You should not worry about having them balance it. I would trust them to a stroker kit better than a local shop.

If you get it balanced then you will need a different flywheel and harmonic balancer. They should dial in at 28 oz then the stock 50 somthing (cant remember).

You also need your 302 block to be machined. That is where a machine shop comes in. You will need it boared, honed, and whatever else is needed. (again I cant recall all what it takes)

Also make sure that you buy DSS' -18cc cylinder head kit. This will give you the same compression as what you have. Otherwise if you get their other kits it will raise compression (unless that is what you want)

I'm not sure about the 331. This is my first stroker. I'm still learning about them. I wish I could tell you more, but I'm just not sure and I don't want to give bad info.

As far as the bore is concerned, all you have to do is know what size pistons you are buying. If you buy .030 you will need the block bored .030. Just make sure you know what you are getting.

Those pistons can be STD, .030, .040,or .060 I put a link to the part number for the pistons.

it says for you to specify. STD, .030, .040... but doesn't say which one comes with the kit.

but if it is, the block wil have to be bored over?

Yes, for a real 347. They increase the stroke, and bore it out .030 to get the 347. Without the .030 it is 4.00 dia by 3.40 stroke, giving 341.8. With 4.030 bore, it goes to 346.95. They may sell normal (un-bored) pistons in a kit, but I doubt it, since they wouldn't sell that many (most people need to bore out the block to correct worn cyl walls). The 331 is a shorter stroke, and probably the same story on boring out the cyl. Watch out for emissions on some 347 stroker kits, they can break into the ring groove on some designs, and it hurts emissions.

Yeah I edited my last post, 'cause I missed that part of the part numbers. Looked at the wrong ones.
