Default 347 stroker

ive been thinking and ive decided to get a 347 stroker with the sports man block built with forged everything from jegs. whats a good timing chain to get? and can i use my stock heads or do i have to get new ones? my plan is to get my bottom end all nice and strong then put the other stuff from my engine on this one im planning on getting. then in the future building up the top part of the engine, but of course not without tranny and better drive drive train. is this all going to work or am i just dreamig? this is the 347 stroker i plan on gettinghttp://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...0763&langId=-1

Of course it will work just be ready to be spending alot of cash to do everything the right way.... and it all depends on what power you want to make.

well i think i i broke my bearings and i have to pull the engine to fix it so i decided since i have to take it out i might as well buy a new block with the stroker kit, andi i figured i would put the all the stock parts on and my cam. but later on get new heads and so on. i would like to try and get max power out of this engine.

If you are planning on going radical later than that is fine, but if you want just a good street machine, I would recommend picking your cam now. I went with a Pet Jackson gear drive(quiet) for my set up.

The B303 will work along with the 1.7's. IMO I wouldn't use your E7 heads on the 347 even if they were ported. That will be a restriction. I recommend a good set of aluminum heads such as TFS, AFR or Edelbrock. Out of the box they out flow ported E7's I believe.

No it won't hurt anything at all. But your number will be down comapred to a 347 with aluminum heads. When the money is right then buy the other heads. The 347 with your curent heads will have mor hp/tq than your current 306...bigger displacement.

when i get around to pull my engine and if all i need to do is fix the pump and the bearings i might just fix them and put the engine back in untill i have enough money for all of that. does any one know how much hp a stock block will hold before actully breaking it or when it will become weak?

I can't believe any hasn't commented on this yet but, that short block only comes with hyperteutic pistons, so if you wanted to run nitrous or forced induction than you'd need forged.
