RE: HP gains
i think if you going to set it to 14 ive heard its good to have 93 octane gas, but i see you live in california like me so that's kinda hard to get lol. 91 octane would probably be fine though. I don't know the exact horsepower gains, but i think it gives a couple tenths in the quarter at most.

RE: HP gains
yeah 91 sucks but maybe those damn octane boosters they sell will help. I can get them super cheap but I never tried em. Anyone else know anything about the hp gains and the 93 octane? Thanks for the help seanjohn.

RE: HP gains
yea i've heard octane boosters work alright. I'm sure if you dump a bottle in your gas tank it should at least give you 2 octane lol. Oh, where you live in LA? I'm in San Diego County, in Vista if you've ever heard of it.

a bunch of ricers and crap meet at the in n out every friday, but the cops down here now are horrible. They just like storm the place now and tell everyone to leave. Most the cars are just slow ricers, but there is a couple fast cars. There is a couple evos, srt4s, stis, stuff like that. There is a built 03 cobra and a old school v8 datsun that comes ocasionally, but it's mostly imports. They are really cracking down on street racing in san diego in general. I've heard all the good races are up in hemit and orange county. Oh half the year we have Cruise night on grand avenue in Escondido, its pretty tight, lots of really nice muscle cars and other nice cars come.

Timing advance doesn't do much of a difference unless you got a much modded car. You'll get maybe 3-4 hps maximum I believe. If you really want your timing advance to be worth it, get yourself a good ignition package such as MSD or Performance Distributors' Firepower (which I got and I really recommend it). 14* timing on a boosted ignition does make a difference though. There's this article on the net with a review of the PDF package, check it out The guy states that he did try MSD and Accel before and felt a difference over those two, interesting
