Getting gears installed on christmas break!
Hey guys, I'm getting gears installed on my christmas break! Now from what I understand, the 3.73 gears will work, but there is no speedometer correction gears for a 91 AOD and I really don't want to tear apart my transmission to make these work, it's not worth it. So I know that they make a 3.55 speedometer correction gear, should I just got with the 3.55s, it seems like the only reasonable thing to do. Other than that, some one that is experienced with this, tell me what the cheapest, best gears are, I found the motive gears for like 130.00, and the trac loc rebuild for 43.00. Plus fluids and what not, it'll probably come out to around 190-200 bucks. Sound about right? Hopefully someone has a cheaper solution for installing the 3.73s without spendin 1g to get my speedo right, and i'm not going to take apart my transmission, otherwise i'm going to have to go with 3.55s. Lemme know what yall think.

get the FRPP 410s. and get the gear. if its off 10% at high speeds who cares really. majority of speedos are off anyways. as long as you can figure out youll be ok. like if 110mph is actuall 100 then youll be fine.
you worry way to much, get 410s, MPG wont be that bad, run a 26' tall tire get a speedo gear and if have to repalce it every year. 10bucks isnt much to lose every 10k. and it only takes about 5 minutes to change a speedo gear

YOU'RE A LIFESAVER STANGPOWER96!!! lol, thanks dude, just took a lot of sweat off my back. Umm let's see here, I just need the gears, trac loc rebuild, friction modifier and the differential lube and the speedo correction gear. Okay, so I'm probably going to go with the motive 3.73s (from mustangtuning.com, I think that's what it's called), the trac-loc rebuild (from 50resto.com), friction modifier (from 50resto.com) and I may as well get the diff. lube from 50resto.com as well also, and the speedo correction gear (from steeda.com). Sounds good I'll let you guys know what's goin on, as I get more info.

That's Junior to you, just ask Quik . I'm sure that alot of people know what they're talkin about, Quik's the only one that's really talked to me about some things though and got them through my head. So anyways, maybe I will get 4.10s, no one ever told me how much my gas mileage is going to drop doing 70 every day to school for 25 miles and the 13 more miles to work doing 75, and then vice versa to get home. Lemme know...

my car with the stall,410s,15*timing,shorties,ORpipe,flows,pullies ,efans and 26' tire got about 15mpg on 93 octane. it wasnt so bad before the stall. that was with me driving it with communting driving and WOT driving. so youll be alittle better then that...remember Key is properly tuned car

The differnce in gas mileage from 3.73's and 4.10's will be such a minor differnce you will NEVER notice it and i promise you that, with the aod that is the only way to go,so please do us a favor and yourself most of all and get the 4.10,i promise you will be so happy with them you will forget about the 1/10 of a differnce in gas mileage.
