Default Simple gear question

3.73 or 4.10 for a 94-95 GT?? This will be a daily driver that may see the track once in a blue moon. I'm not going to go mod crazy with this stang.....just gears, tires, and exhaust. I was thinking 4.10's but what would the RPMS be a 70 mph?? [sm=feedback.gif]

i suggest 3.55s i wouldnt want the RPMs any higher on the highway thats for sure. Its higher than i thought it would be, at 70 its roughly 2200 with the 3.55s in my car. 4.10s in a 5.0 are usually a bad idea, 3.55 is a perfect all around gear (assuming u get a 5 speed).

Hmmm, ok. 2200 @ 70 is pretty low. I definitely want 373's at least.....so I guess 410's would be overkill?[&:]

2200 is low? **** with my exhaust the bitch is really humming, at like 74mph it was doin 2400rpm i think, it multiplies up fast at higher speeds, unfortunately i have only been there once on the way to the track and am having trouble remembering. If you think 2200 is low then yeah, do 3.73's, but 4.10s are overkill for 5.0s, it will have no top end.

i disagree... 410s.. will give you a nice jerk when you hit the throttle.. as far as gas milage theres not a big diff in 373's and 410's
and as far as top end goes.. you wont have a problem.. i dont think your going to be going through the trap at 150 so you will have plenty of top end left to floor it on the highways and on the strip... no worrys .. i would go with the 373's but you can have alot of fun with 410's

I would go with 4:10's. And BTW 2,200RPMs @ 70 is VERY low. My intrepid cruises at 2,500 at that speed. You probally wont even notice the gas between the 3:73's and the 4:10's. But you will a a differnece. I would go with the 4:10's. They ARE very streetable.

i agree with 88blue 2300 is very low considering other cars.. my old car (240sx) cruised around 3 grand at 70 miles an hour.. 410s fun to play with .. just have to say that... i have driven with both 410s and 373s... not a huge mpg difference if you use a gas card.. its like a 10 dollar difference at the end of the month..

you must have 28" tires like me cause im turning 2300-2400 @ 70mph with 4.10's and 28"dr's.

if your going to the track less than 4 times a year i wouldnt go any higher than 3.73's especially if your not going to run drag radials.
