4.11's are gm gears and ford 9" gears.

the 8.8 ford is 4.10

and w/ the aod...you NEED 4.10's....3.73's are not enuff...better yes, great, no

at about 70 you will turn 3 grand.

mileage will suffer about probably 7 mpg from what you could currently get (assuming you get 24 mpg now, then about 17 later)

are you sure you have 2.73's? or assuming...check your door tag, under "ax" code m=2.73, z=3.08, e=3.27

3.27's were only available on aod's , and on a lot of 'verts.

both my aod cars were 3.27's...a '90 lx 5.0 'vert and a '90 GT HT.

even if you went from 2.73-3.55 you would lose about 3-5 mpg. it really is directly proportional to the gears.

i had 3.73's inboth of those aod's and hated them...the first cuz i didn't know any better, then because they were already in the 'vert and i never swapped out. i just sprayed it.

oh and probably his camaro was only a 3-speed....he was in a 1:1 gear like your 3rd gear....od is a .68:1

your friend did not have over drive either. The ford AOD is famous for robbing power from yor motor!! The 3.73 are not enough. Especially with a stock motor and that AOD!! Believe us when we say to go 4.10s. You we never regret it. Good luck!!

We should REALLY REALLY REALLY make this a sticky!

AOD = 4:10's +
5spd = 3:73's - 4:10's
