Just like they said, some comp cams, heads, stroker kit, bigger throttle body with a bigger EGR, a new MAF, wires, ignition, TKO, somethings along that line.</P>

If I were you I would get everything else done to build up your engine and make it strong and then get a major power adder, just a thought. </P>

Still ain't gonna beat the G35C</P>

Actually I don't care who I beat. I just want to have a world class handling car(taken care of with the suspension mods) and a car that is fun to drive. I think that out on the open highway with 400 horsepower and the right suspension and skills a person should be able to have fun. </P>

Might I suggest getting an extra set of wheels shod with some R compound tires and take it to the SCCA solo II autocross. From the mods you listed that thing should be awesome around the cones.</P>

yes the 165's is a lil small but this guy wants to raod race and not drag..he needs bottom end and good mid range to pull thru corners. I would normally say 185 but not in this instance. the 3;73 will be great..I would pull the under drive pullies when you go with the s/c.. this car won't see over 100 at any track..it needs to be kwik rev engine

the racing school is a good idea. my grandpa did it. he had a blast. this summer heis goingtorun at watkins glen. he learned a lot from it. whenever i drive with him he gives me a lecture on heal-toe downshifting. i like it though. and i have been to autocross events before, they are awesome. you can really put it to the test in one of those <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

I see your point except the part about "world class handling" car. Mustangs are better suited for the straight drag race. Hard to beat in that mode however, their squirrely handling can only be mastered by a professional driver. They're simply not as stable as slower cars with better slalom numbers. I've seen so many stangs wrapped around objects because the driver lost control. </P>

I will agree that a stock mustang suspension sucks, but with all the aftermarket companys out there, there is no end of parts. If you follow rd. racing at all you will see that the mustangs do quite will. They can pull the same G's as the best of them. Most mustangs you meet or see have notgone all out on suspension mods, just in the power department. Or they have set their cars up for drag racing. To me a car that can handle well on the open highway is a thing of beauty.</P><edited><editID>DShoop</editID><editDate>38001.9227314815</editDate></edited>

actually road &amp; track (im pretty sure it was them) tested a mustang with a maximum motorsports road &amp; track suspension kit and it scored the best slalom score they ever had (up to that time). and that is the mid-level suspension kit offered by them!! the maximum grip package is insane!!! yes, it would be better to have an independant rear suspension for handling, but the stang works well. and when you have that much POWER it gets the rear end to turn around a little better so you can get a pretty sweet handling car with a little work to it.

It does take a considerable suspension package to make the mustang stable in slalom turns. You hit it on the head with the "independent suspension." That makes a HUGE difference. Face it, stock mustangs don't have all they should to be a respectable driving car. Not sure what the weight ratios are for the newer ones coming out but I'm sure they're not approaching 50/50. Without some kind of traction control for the rear drive, one has to be careful when they demand all the torque and ponies on the start line.</P>

the kit comes with a new k-member that moves the engine back a few inches to help out with the weight ratio. </P>

mustangs arent meant to handle, but the arent bad when you do alot of work to em</P>
