SHUTS OFF!!!
When I got off the freeway i drove down the street and I noticed i couldnt turn my steering wheel. I realized my car was dying so I tried starting it up again and it start but the battery voltage didnt reach all the way before it died again. It only made this whining noise. It did that about 3 or 4 times before it finally started. Finally it started and I got to work checked all the wires and everything is plugged in. On the way home I WAS ON THE FREEWAY when the basterd decided to shut off again so I just put it in nuetral and waited about 10 seconds then it started right back up. Any ideas? Car has a 5 spd 170K miles and is driven hard every day since I got, minus maybe the first week since I was getting comfortable with the power. Any idea would be great and THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Yea if its dying completely check ur ground from the BaTT. I had the Same problem with mine once. I drove it hard as hell and I guess something lossened up and it died on me. Just tighten ur batt cames and the ground. I did that and it hasnt happened since.
I had the same problem with my f-250 and it turned out to be the voltage regulator, would die time after time while idleing or while driving, never consistent.....maybe something to check out.
yep, sounds like the battery terminals are corroded. just clean them out. I use a knife to scrape out the hole.
check what the voltage is on the 2 battery cables, it should be at least 13.8 volts when the engine is running. if it isnt then the voltage reglator is bad.
new ones can be found for less than 60 dollars.
