backfire noise under hood

Hey guys, I'bve been hearing this popping noise uncer my hood when my car is cold, it sounds like a backfire. What could be causing it? As soon as it warms up, it goes away.

Then why does the sound go away when the car warms up?

man i have the same prob. sounds like it backfires threw the intake it is like it is poping.i have a 89 5.0.
