what is the best camshaft?
For the best idle and more usable power the E-303 is supurior. In the ford racing catalog in there crate engines it makes 5 less horespower than the b-303 but it make it over a broader range and more torque. The 94-95 5.0 are touchy with the computers, If you have a subscription to 5.0 or Miscle Mustangs, There have been many articles on the 94-95 mustang and cam selection. the e-303 makes power from idle to 6,000 rpm while the b-303 makes less power under 4,000 rpm and peaks out about 5,500 rpm, Plus the E-cam is a 50 state emission legal cam, but if what your going for is a loepy idle the the b cam has that, and less gas mileage.</P>
about the whole "street legal cam" thing- what are they gonna do, pull it out and check to see???? i think you can pretty much disregard the whole street legal cam aspect.
It's not about street legal, for power or anything, it about meeting emissions. Because the B-303 is a loepier cam, it has less engine vacuum, poor emissions, and poor fuel economy. It wouldn't pass an emission test in california for sure. If you like it more streetable the E cam sounds an didles more like a stock but makes a lot more horsepower. It's like having the cake and eating too. If you read more of the forums, there have been many people complaining the low rpm characteristics of the B cam, such as lugging and jerking at 1,500 or lower, But like i said many people buy the B-303 just for the loepy sound.
in my opinion a cam is alot of work for using with stock heads stock heads don't flow much air so if your going to run a cam besides stock i would keep it small e or b from ford personally i like a split profile especially with stock heads you need to favor the exaust side steeda 18 cam is good split for stock heads hope i helped.
Gm..had a good point...and I don;t like any of the abc ford cams as it doesn't address the poor exhaust problems with the heads..the cams only give a slight duration increase..you need a daul pattern cam...your car should not even idle below 700 rpms...even hugh *** cams can idle 850-900 with some 'puter tweaks...I have a 600 lift cam and I'm around 925rpm
If I knew what all you had in engine, rear, trans, I can point you to the right cam..just pm me..

About that dual pattern thing....
My dodge 360 has 1.88(??) and 1.60 valves, and the dual pattern cams I've looked at all have more lift/duration on the intake side.
Your thoughts?
(ps I'm contemplating dropping a set of magnum or r/t heads on it with 1.92/1.60)
