I agree with vfast. If you use the long tubes as one of your first mods, you're not going to like your low end power. They rob torque. Shorty's are easier to install and are capable of big hp, as vfast said. Long tubes for the sake of saying you have long tubes is a waste of money.

i gotta 88 gt with not much mods, cold air intake, msd ingnition, performance chip and a few other small things... it has the factory headers on it, and i was wondering if those are good enough to keep for the engine, or if i would notice a difference in power going with shorties, or long tubes

shorties will give you about 10, longtubes more like 25 (and yes, you do loose some torque over shorties if it isnt modded much)

i love my bbk long tubes on my pretty much stock stang. they don't scrape...yet (stock suspension). i didn't notice any loss low end. actually, that's where it seemed to pick up a little bit (may be due to better throttle response). shorty's or long tubes, you pick, just get the exhaust out.

Alright, cool. As of now my stang is pretty much stock. And it may be a little while before i can get a good amount of mods on her. So with all the info ya'll helped out with, i think i'll go with some ceramic-coated shorties. Thx guyz...
