need cam advice.
hi, I need to get a new cam to go with my AFR 185 heads.
there are so many cams out there now it is hard to choose.
I have a b-303 cam, but I know there are cams that will give me way more power.
mods include
rebuilt 308 CI
professional products intake
AFR 185 heads (max lift is 0.550)
1.7 roller rockers, or 1.6 (havent got them yet, I need stud mount)
msd6A
70mm throttle body
73mm MAF
24# injectors w/190lph pump and AFPR
zex dry nitrous kit 75 shot.
it is my daily driver in the summer, and I race it at the track every weekend.
the 185 heads have an operating range to 6500rpm, but I dont want to break anything so I think I will limit the rpm to 6000 rpm.
so far I have looked at all the lunati cams and the 51025lun looks good but the range is 2500-6500rpm.
I want it to have the most power/torque possible without going over 6000rpm

RE: need cam advice.
many cam manufacturers have good cams and most now have online catalogs to help with cam selection for your application. You have to make a few choices about RPM range and drivability. Some cam companies also have "Nitrous specialty cams". You know your limitation on lift, you should read about duration and overlap, understand their impact to your application, you can find explanation of these on cam web pages.

I'm not sure why you bought the 185 heads if your stuck 550 lift or less....I would stay will 1.6 rocker as if more lift is needed later than just add 1.7's instead of a cam change....so I guess some like 525-545 with a 112 c/l would put you in the ballpark..but those heads will be under used
