306 qestion
ok i no ive talked about building a 331 stroker but it really not in my budget considering im only 17. so im thinking about taking my motor out having it bored .30 to a 306 using stock crank and rods but with some low compression pistions around 8.5 to 1 or 9 to 1. im going to have 185cc heads with a f303 cam and holley systemax intake. then either for graduation in may or when im parents sell there house there goin to buy my a power adder im thinking about a procharger running 10 to 12 lbs. this is my daily driver do you think it will hold up? im not really hard on my cars unless i need to be. ive seen in mmff guys with pretty much the same setup i was just wondering what you guys thought

RE: 306 qestion
If the block is good and the bores are round don't bother with the .30 overbore, it won't give you any real power. Now if the bores are not square, then by all means bore them out but only go as big as you need to clean them up.

RE: 306 qestion
I would have the block magnafluxed and cleaned and the bores checked (if they are bad fix them). New cam, main, rod bearings. I would invest in forged rods and a crank, forged pistons and good file fit rings.

I am building a similar engine now. If you think you will run 12# of boost you should go with forged pistons and rods. You will also need to add a girdle to the mains. The decision to SC makes a large difference in choices, (ie ring end gap, 0.016 for NA, 0.025 for SC application).
Minimum for any build is rod/cam/main bearings, oil pump, rings, gaskets. I also always work the heads when I build.
