Default Side gapping plugs

Hey, Have any of you guys ever done this. Side gapped your plugs. Does it really increase performance? Does it cause engine problems? Is it worth it or a waste of time?

Although I don't see a problem with the logic behind this, the plug life will be seriously shortened since all of the spark will be localized in one spot on the anode. Instead of 30k miles you may only get 10-15k per set. It won't hurt anything though..maybe just your wallet

Well im running autolites with a blown motor, so im running rich all the time anyway. I just changed them about 5 months ago, I think i got some bad gas this time though, cause one fouled on me. So I was wondering if this is worth doing or not. I mean increased horsepower is horsepower.

I don't think you'll see much in 'increased' horsepower. I mean the split fires claimed something outrageous like 5-10hp and I think when they tested them got more like 1 or 2. The real benefit I see with the side gap is the lower likely hood of detonation and fouling as mentioned in this article.

I can't claim that they give a specific amount of extra power but I do suggest doing it. I do...

I did this off/on for years in my old race car, never really saw any improvement in E.T.
