alright, that explains it for me. pretty cheap too. this will take care of the loud whining noise that im constantly hearing right?

well, u have a '91, so u must be hearing the same thing as me, the fan just pushes alot of air out and is SOOOOO freakin loud! i really want to know how to make it stop. i know its not the fan clutch. the air pump huh? i'll have to look into that. does it bother u?

if you decide to stay with the stock fan there are two types of clutch fans.the one you have sound like an rpm one which the faster your motor spins the louder it gets and the tighter it gets.you need the one that reacts by temp which when your motor get warmer then the fan loosins up and spins more freely(alot more quiter).

air pump? do you mean the smog pump? i don't think that it would make that much noise.

disconnect the fan and see if it still makes that noise.

yeah, smog pump. my '87 didnt have one so i dont really know if its making that noise. i will try disconnecting the fan and see what happens though. i do see what ur saying about the two different fan clutches, i'll look int it. thanks

Did you check the blades of the fan? If there is a big enough nick in the fan it could be making the noise. Not very likely, but possible.

dude, try changing the engine coolant teperture senser, mine did the same thing, it was running on hi all the time , because that stupid senser was bad! that is prolly why yours is so loud.. well let me know if this help's!
