Default et7 build up questions

ok well im getting hooked up with a set of et7's i know they arent the best heads, but im getting them cheap, and i want to build them up a little, any suggestions on which rockers, push rods, etc i should use? i think im gonna go with a e-cam, and i REALLY dont wanna deal with springs and valves, so is it still worth it to just do some nice RR's with good push rods?

If you are doing a cam swap you should always get the correct spring, they are meant to work together. Honestly I would not spend one dime a set of E7's. They take a ton of port work and bigger valves to make any power and by then you will have spent enough that you could have bought a good set of GT40's or similar

I'm giving bmanice my old motor (91 5.0 w/ 32,000 miles on it) since I am getting a new motor and hes going to build it but on a strict budget because hes building another car at the time also. He just wants to know some stuff that he can do to them to make them a little bit better.

He could add 1.7 rockers, but I would not spden any money on the heads themselves, they are just not worth it.

the port work and valve job is the biggest gain.

try to find a set of cobra heads.

my buddy went 12.60's on cobra heads w/ minor exhaust port work, stock intakes , and a comp valve job. on a '92 GT 5-speed box stock gt40 intake, and stock everything else w/ 4.10's......11.80 on a 125 shot.

the exhaust ports are where they need it most....bowl work not a big deal, intake ports not a big deal....unless your flowing huge numbers, too much intake port will hurt you.

and the valve job...especially if they are used heads.

also i suggest 1.72 rockers if using the stock cam.

How sweet of a deal were you getting on the E7's? You're right, they aren't the best heads out there, but you can make decent power with them if the port work is done right. I'm running ported E7's, 1.6 RR's with a b303.

Forced induction does a nice job of helping a poor head flow well though, him staying N/A the E7 is a really poor chioce
