destroking a 351
hi i have been thinking about my next shortblock for when this one gose boom from too much turbo boost and nitrous i figure i would swapp every thing over any how my next motor is going to be an after market block, and i was thinking about destroking a the 351 so i could have a high reving motor, i was thinking about getting a 4340 forged 302 crank and longer rods to make a high rever any one know of places that care blanced kits? or anything like that. i want my next motor to handle 1000-1200 horse but i'm only planing for 850 range all of the time. this not going to be started for like a year or so but i would like to start garthering info. i might just go to a 400+ stroke instead but i love high high revs.

well a nascar uses a 351 and i do belive they are bored and stroked to a 408-427, they run 9k+ so it should rev like that, and the reving has more to do with your cam, if you have a motor built to rev 9k but a cam that is only good for 7k than it will not make anymore power after 7k

i know about the cam power bands. intake and head flow. i need more duration for higher rpms. but destroking usally makes a motor usally makes more upper rpm power easier while stroking. makes more lowerpower. who knows what i'll end up doing i'm going to pick up a vitural dyno program any one know any that are fairly accurate.

I guess my question is why do you want such a high reving motor? Particularly a turbo motor that revs high. Higher revs means more wear and tear and less useable power at the lower rpms (if it;s a race only car thats not a concern). You can still make gobs of power at less than 7000 rpm and have an engine that will live for a very long time.
