EGR Deletion
i dont know if my light works or not to lazy to check the bulb to see if its blown i have been working on mustangs sense i was 5 so i know a lot about them but not everything i know when somethings wrong with it
you can get rid of those vacum valves and crap behind the passenger strut tower, and the egr itself.
but the check engine light will stay on unless you get a egr eliminator. I got mine from ebay and it just sends a closed signal to the computer.
I heard you can just take apart the valve and leave the plug part on but havent tried it.
I paid $20 for my eliminator.
sometimes my check engine light would come on while driving, and the plug just came loose from the eliminator, so I taped it on there real good. I havent had any problems and that stuff was the first to go.

i was playing around with the sensor on the back of the EGR that tells the computer when the its open and closed. My friends car check engine light works mine doesnt so i tested it on his car. If you unbolt the sensor from the back of the EGR valve there is a plunger that goes in and out that tells when its in closed loop and in open loop. WHen you pull the sensor out the check engine light comes on bc the plunger is all the way out. Closed loop on the EGR valve is about a 1/4 of an inch push in bc when you put the sensor back in the valve it pushes on the metal plate inside the valve about an 1/4 of an inch. So also the way the EGR valve works is idle-part throttle the EGR is open and at WOT the EGR valve is closed. OK knowing that at WOT that is a lot of vaccum so the vaccum would pull the metal plate inside the EGR in and push the plunger on the sensor in making it go into closed loop.
Anyways if you dont want to know about how the EGR works dont read above all it says is unbolt the sensor from the back of the valve and push in the plunger about half way and tape it there now the sensor will read closed loop

what i did was i took the plunger off the egr took my dremal tool and cut 3/4 of the shaft off then took a soda bottle cap and put it over the the shaft because the shaft may push through the tape then i taped it up, works great.

will this mod add ponys? just a question. cause i have no smog crap in my car. the egr is still there though.
