i had 4.10s in my notch but thought they were a bit too much for my tastes so i swapped them for some 3.55s (i would've taken 3.73s too if i could've found someone to trade them) but with an auto i'd go 4.10 all the way.

Are you on the interstate more than 75% of the time per week or going about 65? If so I'd go with 3.73s if you're worried about gas mileage. I'm going with 3.73s in my auto and I'm on the interstate or doing about 70 mph about 75% of the time. Other wise that poor AOD needs some 4.10s.

Thanks for all the input so far! Looks like the 4;10's are winning hands down, and that is what I kinda wanted to hear. I do some running on the highway but the car will really be used more for a toy and not a daily driver. I own a car lot so I have plenty of other cars to choose from. I am keeping the car at my lot and pulling it in to work on it as time and money allows. Once I get the exhaust on it I will put some miles on it and see how it runs out. Right now it just has the stock H pipe with cats, no muffs or tails, Kinda loud!

I am watching a set of 4;10's on E-bay right now, well see what they go for.

So I think for what the car will be used and abused for the 4:10's will be the way to go!

......heads off to e-bay,........

Nitrous Bob, with that comment on the same OD gearing in 373s and 410s;
Does that mean you would turn the same speed in 5th for both?
I thought they were different.

I have a vert, and I do some highway driving like 3 months out of the year. I'm thinking these 3.90s might be the perfect blend

what year stang do you have? I have a 95 gt vert and getting 3.73 because I am on the interstate cruising around 80 or so 5 days a week. Want a little more than 3.55, but less than 4.10 and that should be a happy medium. Right now i have 2.73 stock. What kind of rpms are you pushing now cruising at 65 or so? Thanks

What tire size you are running will greatly affect your choice too.

Go here http://www.richmondgear.com/101032.html

Plug in the numbers and read your RPM for any speed. Hope this helps.

thanks for posting, but yeah, everytime i try to use those damn calculators, I get some jacked up numbers like 65 mph @ 10000 rpms... what am i doing wrong. I have 95 gt w/ aode, w/ 8.8 rear end w/ 2.73 gears now (but want 3.73), 18 inch tires, and just want to know what the rpms would be @ 65 mph. whats the od ratio??

-also, to calculate rear end ratio, I put in 65 mph @ 1550 (18 tires again) and apparently I have 1.28 gears... swore i had 2.73's. Im too stupid to figure those out.... thanks though!!

hey topless, it asks for tire size, that would be including your sidewall.
Correcty me if I'm wrong guys;
Stock tires on my stock 15" wheels (87 GT) are 225/60/15
that means a 60mm sidewall.
multiply that by 2= 120 mm of sidewall.
according to my calc. that's an additional 4.72 inches.
Add 4.72 + my 15" rim and I get 19.72 total height.

To do is yourself, my calc. says the conversion factor is
1 mm= .0393701 inches
so your sidewall height, then times 2, then times .0393701.
add this to your rim size and your set.

Hope this sheds some insight.
