well your talking about taking a stock car. and putting against modified cars.. that means you have to modify yours..

Not to mention its stock and it has some miles on it..just start modding but still yet if i wanted to look good and sound good a vert would be the way to go...but to go fast that would be my LAST choice.

the RX7 has a stock turbo and the vert's are the heaviest but they still only weigh 2,997Lbs with all fluida and a full tank of gas. i looked it up several times to make shure.

rx7 type s has a turbo on it and 276 horsepower.. your run of the mill rx7 is NA and its not hard to get more boost from them..

And you're vert dosent weigh that much...maybe a stripped down coupe,but not a vert there closer to 3,400-3,500 pounds.

Sorry but i have to say your off on that...here is the linky to prove that. Everyone always says that there heavier than they really are...why is that. Some one told me that my 83 was aroud 3400 and i know thats wrong because the construction company down the road has a drive on scale and its only 2943 er so depending on if i just shat or not.

O yeah but as far as beating him goes.... I must say no... Unless you can drive the **** out of that car but even though i dont think so, If he had a munual then hell no but thats his weak link for you to explode on, IF you had a set of gears it would be a much better race, I know there was a guy here before who claims he got his stock 5.0 nitch to do some sick times.....but i dont think he did and i dont think you can.
Note: My 83 stock with a stock carb but rejetted ran a 14.4 with a 4 speed trans

I just searched it through edmunds.com and I came out with a curb weight of 2,975 for a 1990 5.0 Convertable.

considering your an average driver and have stock gears w/ street tires....yes

your car would run in the 15.0-15.5 range probably.

w/ a nice gear...i like 4.10's and a cheater slick...you'll knock well over a second off that.

right now it's all about leverage , and hook.

i think you could hit a 13.90 w/ gears and tire...and contend w/ both of those cars.
