95 too many miles for upgrades
OK guys im new too the website but i have been hearing goood things about it. I have a 95 Gt with a 5spd, and im only 17 yrs old, it currently has 108,000 miles on it. It runs very strong and i was wondering wheather I should buy a newer mustang or just put a motor in it. Im trying to keep the cost to a minimum i was just wondering what would benefit me the most. Lastly do you think i should maybe just rebuild the motor or dont worry bout the mileage and just put all the performance parts i can into it. Also give me prices for a complete rebuild or any performance suggestions. The only things on the car rite now(performance wise) are x pipe with hi flo cats, flowmaster mufflers and cold air intake, i also hav new plugs and wires. What next?

my 94 gt has 113000 on it and it is running great, and i have heard people say that they have over 200000 and their's still run strong. you probably don't have to worry about it if you say that the car is running fine

Your 5.0 should last many thousand more miles unless it has been abused alot. Even then I have 108,000 on mine and it has been royally abused and it still runs pretty good, do a compression test before you rebuild the engine, and dont rebuild unless you have to. Mod wise get some 3.73 gears and new maf and intake/tb those are some of the best for the money/work required. Have fun.

do you know who the person was that had the car before you? how did they treat the car. id say if u think it runs strong then go write ahead and do whatever you want with it. just keep the pedal as far away from the floor as much as possible to risk any damage on the. but if u want to check the condition of your motor, a good way of doin it is to go to your local parts store and get the tools u need to do a compression, wet, and leak down test. this will determin the condition of your valves and piston rings. also get an oil pressure guage to check oil pressure to make sure that your main bearings arent to worn out.

agreeing with the others 1989 5.0 well over 100k still runs low 14s never had a problem with the motor period but i do slightly disagree with the s/c idea in the evnt the motor does fail you run the risk of ruining an otherwise good block. with 108k a little machining will do magic tricks but half a rod hanging out of the side of the block will not be fixable with jb weld. hit the basics throw cam and gears in it and terrorise the Ls folk
