i'll answer that,cause iv'e been through the same ****...which turned out to be a 6mo. fuel pump).
disconnect innertia switch, start it till all fuel has been depleted..or dies..unhook lines from the front,and back to tank..you can disconnect battery if you want to be safe..then just blow them out...checking voltage is done with a meter...i had to drop my tank,cause i couldn't get to the plugs ins.

sometimes it gets shorted...atleast on some hatches..bad seal water leaking in...i never seen it happen though..
it was a walbro(like all aftermarkets) now it's a holley...my fuel gauge didn't work so i ran it low everytime..
kinda burn't it up
